Welsh 3000's Challenge

Welsh 3000s 24 hours Challenge

In order to complete the Welsh 3000s 24 hour Challenge you are required to have been to the top of all 15 of the mountains over 3000 ft in Wales within the space of 24 hours, without using any form of transport.

The length is about 24 miles, but the walks to the start point and down from the finish point can take it to over 30 miles in total.

This is a hard challenge and a much greater task than the National 3 Peaks Challenge. We only take very fit individuals on this challenge, and to complete the 24 hour challenge with us you have to complete a specific training route to test your fitness, and ability to move over similar terrain.

Times below 12 hours (first peak to final peak) are sometimes achieved by exceptionally fit walkers. For fellrunners, the record stands at an unbelievable 4 hours 20 minutes, or three times in 22 hours 49 minutes!

Welsh 3000s Multiday Challenge

The Welsh 3000s challenge can also be split over two or three days. This is a great way to experience Snowdonia at its best and enjoy the views. It must be remembered that taking on the challenge over two or three days still requires good fitness; some of the paths are across exposed ridges (notably Crib Goch and Tryfan) and you will need to be able to walk for at least seven hours per day.
